Picnic Train – Newcastle Picnic Train

Step aboard the Picnic Train for an unforgettable steam hauled heritage rail adventure from Sydney to Newcastle and return, travelling in beautifully restored vintage carriages hauled by our nostalgic steam locomotive R766.​

From the moment you leave Sydney, you’ll be transported back to the golden age of rail travel as the train winds its way through some of New South Wales’ most spectacular railway scenery. Relax in comfortable heritage accommodation and enjoy ever-changing views as the train follows the picturesque Central Coast, passing alongside the sparkling waters of Brisbane Water and traversing the region’s coastal landscapes.
